Prevalence of Temporomandibular Joints Disorders in Egyptian Undergraduate Dental Students and The Association Between The Clinical and Radiographic Findings

Purpose: to assess the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders among dental undergraduate Egyptian students and association between clinical features radiographic findings. Material Methods: 281 female were randomly selected participate in primary screening. In study screening examination final diagnosis done according a new modified Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) Axis I which encompass (medical history, pain questionnaire, signs symptoms questionnaire protocol). The consisted 11 criteria (pain location, headache incisal relationship ,opening pattern movement ,lateral protrusive movements ,noises during opening lateral movements, TMJ locking, muscle palpation TMJ, supplemental palpation, occlusion assessment was added Results: 28.5% students, most common reported symptom percentage 89% 59.3%f subjects .The subtype muscular (mylagia myofascial ) with percentge 29.2%, 15.4% then arthylagia 27.7% disc displacement 13,8 degenerative 1.5% Conclusions: TMDS is highly prevalent conditions young population. There an adequate stress university years TMDS.
